  • I've always thought that all politicians should run as if they're quitting politics forever after their next term in office. We'd get much better government. The biggest problem with American politics is that some make it a career. After the election, we should hang the loser and throw the winner in jail. I believe that would lead to much better government over the long run.

  • Schweitzer was pretty freakin' great tonight, wasn't he? I didn't know much about the guy before tonight, but he really got the crowd fired up.

Hillary was brilliant. If she decides to run again, she's a shoe-in.

  • I think Penn, Wolfson and the Big Dog DID have her locked away. Tonight, I got the impression that Hillary (sans her "minders") is a genuine, compassionate Democrat. I have never gotten that impression before. I've always thought of her as a complete phony. I'm starting to believe she was just a willing participant and that the complete phonies were using her from behind the screen.

  • Because Fox is important. They have a huge influence on American life and you need to know what they're saying. Smug, complacent ignorance is comfortable and happy, but knowing thy enemy is the only way to defeat thy enemy.

Posted at August 27, 2008 12:38 AM in response to Hillary: "Were You In This Campaign Just For Me?"

  • An amazing speech. Easily the best speech I've ever seen her give. She did everything she needed to do and more.

I got the sense that she was almost relieved to give this speech. I wonder if this "catharsis" she's been talking about lately wasn't more about her than about her supporters. Tonight seemed like a catharsis for Hillary. Did Bill want Hillary to be president more than Hillary wanted Hillary to be president? Just a thought...

  • Very soon, the McCain campaign gets put on its public financing allowance. Then the game changes completely.

Posted at August 26, 2008 6:19 PM in response to Focus Group: "Celeb" Ad Working -- But Not How You Think

  • What is Bill Clinton? Eight? He should just say what it is he wants to say and get it over with. He'll come across as bitter and self-centered, which is exactly what he is. But he'll be done with it.

Then he should grow the hell up. It was a POLITICAL CAMPAIGN. Nothing personal, Bubba. For once in your life, maybe you could consider acting like an adult.

Posted at August 25, 2008 1:37 PM in response to Howard Wolfson Confirms Rift Between Bill Clinton And Obama

  • If you're not playing offense, you're losing--it's really as simple as that. Obama needs to realize that as much as he'd like to run a positive campaign, it just ain't gonna happen. He's running against a Republican, and with them, it's destroy or be destroyed. Period. Obama needs to destroy McCain.

No more Mr. Nice Guy, Barack. Hit him until he falls.

  • Well then it's been a complete waste of time for both political parties to have courted them so aggressively and for so long. All those political strategists are probably just incompetent.
