  • McCain Mentally Incompetent to be President

As my vast readership knows, I recently posted about McCain's moral shortcomings as a president.  Now it has become glaringly obvious that his mental shortcomings are far worse than his moral shortcomings. This leads me to ponder a hypothetical situation:  Let's...more »

It is time to look at John McCain without the rose colored glasses.  This is a man who was able to get into the US Naval Academy only because his father and grandfather were navy admirals, which caused the academy...more »

This has been a historic week for the Bill of Rights.  First the 4th amendment was eviscerated by Congress.  Then the 2nd amendment was misinterpreted by the US Supreme Court.  All that is left is for the remaining branch of...more »

  • I suspect you will find that the "religious" wing of the conservatives is steadfast in refusing to read anything but the Bible. Many of those people have been brainwashed into believing that any writing more modern than the Bible is evil and must be avoided. I have been told by more than one of that group that I am sinning by reading non-Bible literature.

Church leaders can most easily maintain their hold on their followers if they can restrict their access to information other than what they provide. This allows them to succeed at dictating the voting habits of their followers as well.

  • Conservatives have been inciting citizens to hate liberals for many years, if not decades. Some TV conservative commentators have even declared that the only good liberals are the dead ones. I'm through showing tolerance for Conservatives. There is no limit to the slime and hatred that conservatives such as the Repub presidential and vp candidates toss around today, so we can either stand up to them or lose another election, and probably our form of government.

  • I keep waiting for Daddy Bush to send his friends in with open check books to save little George. Why not? It worked well the other times. And, one of Daddy Bush's friends can certainly afford it. (The one that wears the white robe all the time.)

  • The word "kill" has no place in any political campaign.

McCain and Palin themselves seem so disconnected from civilization that one should wonder if either one carries a gun. They are obviously deranged and dangerous.

  • I keep wondering if McCain can survive the debate tomorrow night. I can see Obama using his calm cool demeanor to dig McCain a bit, probably about the Keating 5 scandal, and McCain totally losing control of his temper. Should be good TV.

  • Outstanding post! I agree wholeheartedly with this. Conservatism is about nothing more than shifting more of the national wealth into the bank accounts of the top 0.1% of the wealthy. Conservatives are entirely willing to take the nation to war, killing thousands of our citizens, if they can profit off of it, and they do that very well. Conservatives see their mortal enemy, the very essence of evil being socialism, where government tries to serve someone other than that top 0.1%. Second only to socialism is the labor movement, where workers gain the power to shift a tiny bit of the national wealth towards those who earn it.

The average American fears socialism, and would willingly sacrifice their children to destroy it. The day needs to come when it is Conservatism that the average family fears.

  • Why attack Conyers? It was a pair of Republican judges who made this ruling. This is comparable to other such rulings that hold that the American people must be shielded from any information that might inform their voting choices. And, it is comparable to the US Supreme Court ruling that allowing a recount of the Florida vote might present a hardship to George Bush. Repub judges rule as they please, laws and the Constitution are just impediments as far as they are concerned.

  • Oh, my heart aches for those poor widows and orphans who are losing their assets today! Surely this is now an emergency that justifies calling Congress back into session to pass a 2 trillion dollar bailout, most likely a bailout on the order of golden parachutes for all of the poorest of the wealthy executives who need our protection from the wolves at their door.

    Sorry for that outburst.

Paulson was chosen by Bush. Why does anything else need to be known about the man? Of course he gave Bush bad advice, when looked at from the perspective of an ordinary citizen. But, he gave Bush excellent advice when looking from the perspective of executives in the finance industry who are stuck with worthless paper they "invested" so much money in. Given that it will be another month before any of that worthless paper is actually purchased by us, I suppose today's stock market reaction isn't too surprising. And, with a 35 yr old former Goldman Sachs minor executive in charge of the $700,000,000,000 program, I find it odd that anyone really expects something positive to come of it, other than for a few finance industry executives.

If I seem pissed, that's because I am pissed.
